About the January Mind, Body and Writing Challenge

A blog challenge can be a great way to spice up your blog and work on your writing skills.  Studies show that posting daily will help get your viewers more involved in your blog by learning about you and your blogging journey.

January Blog Challenge

January starts the new year and is when the winter blues tend to set in.  We usually start the month off with goals that include health, work, and life. Then we see a drop in temperatures, and if you live in the north, the snow falls and the sunshine is less.  This challenge was created to get you out of the winter doldrums and help you reach your health goals for 2019.

We will begin each writing challenge with a mental or physical activity to get us mentally and physically prepared to write.  The activity can be changed or modified to meet your needs, these are just ideas to get your blood flowing and your mind cleared to write.  As always, talk to your doctor before starting any physical activity.

The writing challenges will focus on you and getting our minds out of the winter blues.  There will be a variety of articles from posts, from recipes to lists…it is a chance to hone in on your writing skills.  You can complete these challenges in a journal for yourself, share on social media, or create daily posts for your blog. It is going to be fun!

January Blog Challenge

What if this writing challenge doesn’t fit your niche?

A blog challenge may not totally fit your niche, but you can always create a new category.  If you create a January Blog Challenge category your viewers can follow along for the month of December and can learn more about you and your blog.  Then, at the end of January, you can simply hide the category. All your posts are still there, but not open to the public anymore.

If you do not want to create a new category, you can use the blog challenge to help build your social media.  Write shorter articles and share on your favorite social media. If this doesn’t work for you either, just start your day with the challenge and write in your journal.  It is all about getting the creative juices flowing.

How to Write the Posts for the January Blog Challenge

First, take the time to complete the warm-up activity.  It will help clear your mind and start your blood flowing for a better writing experience.  Then, think of your niche and try to fit the posts to meet your niche as best as possible. In fact, you should, stay with your branding as much as possible.

Remember, if you are creating posts for your website, they should be about 500 to 1000 words, use titles, tags, and headings to that fit your niche and enhance SEO.  Add quality images to all your posts and remember to add alt text. If you have trouble thinking of images, you can use Pexels.com and Canva.com, to search for fun images that will fit almost any post.  If an affiliate link fits in the post, add it! For instance – When creating your posts think of places you can add linkbacks or links to other blogs. And most important if you have affiliates, don’t forget to add some links to those in your posts.  Make sure the links flow easily in the article. For instance, if you are writing your favorite New Year Recipe, add a link to Amazon for your viewers to click and buy the special skillet you are using… or the cute pot holders in the pictures.

Be creative and have fun!
