I am starting a new category on our blog for our journey to a healthier life.  Here you will be able to follow us in our journey to a healthier lifestyle through exercise, eating right, and loving life.  Mr. Witte’s World and I had face some cold hard facts…we are over 55 and we are both…well let’s just say…not as fit as we should be.  If you have been following our blog, you may have read about my lap band journey and the difficulty I have eating at restaurants.  Now, we are going to expand on this to include both our journies to healthier lifestyles.

Mr. Witte’s World has always been healthy and loves to run, bike, hike, canoe and pretty much anything outdoors.  He has always maintained a good weight but has put on a few extra pounds in the last year. He is looking to lose 15 pounds in the next few months. However, his ultimate goal is to eat healthily and get back into running, biking, and hiking.  He is choosing a version of the Body for Life program that works for his lifestyle. He will be writing about his journey periodically.

My journey has had many ups and downs!  I guess you could say my life has consisted of one diet after another. I 2011 I had Lapband surgery.  Since my Lapband surgery, I have had a difficult time with food. Most meals are painful. Certain foods are hard for me to eat.  My goal is to lose 30 pounds by December 25, 2018. My diet is a little different from Mr. Witte’s World in that I don’t eat a lot and I HATE to exercise.  So, to lose weight I will be exercising at least 3 times a week through walking and biking.

Weight Loss

In the past week, we have worked out and started our diet.  I am happy to announce, I lost 1.5 pounds in the first week!  I am off to a good start…stay tuned for more exercise tips, recipes, and more.
